Liposuction
Liposuction
Lioposuction removes fat deposits on the body, face or neck. Bodily liposuction is used to slim the figure, while facial liposuction can slim facial contours, correct overly round faces, remove double chins and firm sagging jaw areas.
What to expect before, during and following liposuction:
Dr. Engen will take a complete medical history before the procedure is carried out in order to better understand each patient’s general health. He will also provide detailed preoperative instructions for the patient to follow in order to improve the procedure’s results. In addition, before and after photographs are usually taken so that the final results can be better evaluated. This procedure may be carried out at an outpatient surgical facility or at a hospital. Dr. Engen consults with each patient to determine the best place for the surgery to be performed and whether local or general anesthesia will be used. Patients undergoing liposuction usually spend about two to three hours in surgery, but this time frame may be somewhat shorter or longer, depending on how extensive the procedure is.
A wrap is worn for seven to ten days for physical support and improved recovery time following which patients are usually required to wear a surgical compression garment for an average of six weeks.
Most patients are also prescribed antibiotics and oral pain medication during the first week. Patients should expect some swelling and/or bruising right after the surgery, but this usually disappears within four weeks.
Most patients are able to resume normal activities within two weeks of the procedure, and each patient should consult with Dr. Engen before resuming vigorous physical activity. This is usually possible within several weeks, especially if they follow the instructions given to them after the surgery and during subsequent follow-up visits with Dr. Engen.
Smartlipo™ Laser Body Sculpting
Smartlipo™ Laser Body Sculpting is a revolutionary new procedure that is less invasive than traditional liposuction. Smartlipo eliminates fat cells, improves overall body shape, and results in tighter skin tissue. It is particularly effective on areas of the body not easily reachable through traditional liposuction methods, such as the neck area, waist, arms, legs and back. Smartlipo usually only requires local anesthesia and patients can typically return to work within a couple of days.
